Biscuit Chocolate Corporation presented its new products at ISM 2017

Biscuit Chocolate Corporation for the seventeenth time participated in the World’s Major Confectionary Exposition – The International Sweets and Snacks Fair (ISM) at the German city Köln.

The Biscuit Chocolate Corporation was the first among Ukrainian confectionary companies to take part in the international ISM expo in 2000, where it presented not only its products but Ukraine in general.
For its history the ISM expo allowed many producers establishing the new relations, support and develop the relations with the existing partners, track the new tendencies in the confectionary market development.
This year the Biscuit Chocolate Corporation presented on the international level the wide range of confectionary items and novelties of 2016-2017: the premium series of box sweets “Georges” and “Georges Classic”, series of premium sweets and butter cookies in the metal cant “Georges Premium”; “Old Collection” series chocolate; chocolate sweets with the sophisticated filling “The Paris spring”, “Morning Star”, “Blue bird”, sweets based on the crispy creamy brittle “Lucky Tony” and toffy based on the condensed milk “Milk Tony”.
The classical assortment was also not ignored: wide range of waffles of different tastes and packing, cracker, Viennese pies with the natural jams, sugar biscuits, which underwent the independent quality inspection and was awarded the gold medal DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft e.V. “German Agricultural Association”).
According to the corporation president Alla Kovalenko, the visitors of Biscuit-Chocolate stand were interested in the cooperation with the corporation and during the business meetings the specific issues of the future cooperation were already discussed.
“We are convinced that the negotiations with the set of companies from the countries where we do not export to as yet will end up successfully. Such conviction is based on the compliance of the assortment, technological processes and quality of the confectionary TM Biscuit-Chocolate with the European standards. I would like to add that modern confectionary market requires higher flexibility from the manufacturer and acknowledgement of national taste preferences in the other countries” – Alla Kovalenko said.
During the expo the stand of Biscuit-Chocolate Corporation was visited by the representatives of 28 countries interested in the TM Biscuit-Chocolate products supply.

ISM became the business platform for 1, 647 exponents from 68 countries, which presented their products on the expo area, consisting of 110,000 m2. Almost 38, 000 specialists from 140 countries became the visitors of ISM 2017. The foreign companies made up 67%.

The Biscuit-Chocolate Corporation is one of the largest confectionary producers in Ukraine. It comprises a set of enterprises ensuring all basic technological production stages, from the raw materials preparation to the release of ready-made products. The Corporation was founded in 2004 as a part of Kharkovchanka Confectionary PJSC (since 1896 at the market), Kharkov Biscuit Plant (since 1935). Over 20 groups of confectionary items are produced under the Biscuit-Chocolate brand. In 2016 the corporation subdivisions released 60.3 ths. tones of products totaling 1.84 bln. UAH., 36% of all amount was exported. The quality management system at the corporation subdivisions complies with the modern international standards ISO 9001-2008. About 2.4 ths. people are employed by the company subdivisions.

Sugar Cookies “Korivka” passed an independent quality examination in Germany and received the Gold Medal DLG

Sugar Cookies “Korivka” with creamy taste 180 g produced by Kharkiv Biscuit Factory passed an independent quality examination in Germany and received the Gold Medal DLG* (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft e.V. “German Agricultural Community”).
Expert of the company DLG made an organoleptic analysis of the cookies by 6 parameters: appearance, surface quality, cookies structure, friability, smell and taste. In all of the above criteria cookies “Korivka”” with creamy taste 180 g of “Biscuit–Chocolate” TM received the highest grade and gained the maximum points: 100 out of possible 100.
Analysis of the package gave additional 5 points.
In the expert’s conclusion it is said: “Congratulations and thank you for an excellent product. Product quality is completely satisfactory and it convinced the expert. For the result obtained, you are awarded the Gold Medal DLG”.
DLG quality concept is based on modern scientific achievements and their own developed and patented techniques.
Only one food product that has excellent quality, made of quality raw materials and with the optimal technology could seek for the bronze, silver or gold medal.
Every year DLG tests over 20,000 food products in Germany and other European countries, even those that are not sold in Germany, and only the perfect ones, with organoleptic characteristics in accordance with DLG quality criteria, can get a reward.
DLG test results are highly rated in the market, its trademark is a guarantee of the quality of the tested product.
“Biscuit–Chocolate” Corporation has been presented at the German confectionery market since the year 2000, when it participated in the prestigious international exhibition ISM in Cologne for the first time. Results of the Corporation “Biscuit – Chocolate” for the first half 2016

Corporation “Biscuit-Chocolate” in the first half of 2016 produced 29.2 thousand. Tons of confectionery products, while maintaining production volumes of the same period last year, despite the very challenging market conditions. The same volume of production was sold on the domestic and foreign markets, which amounted to 860 million USD in cash.
In general, in the first half of the corporation sent to export 34% of output, increasing the amount of deliveries more than 300 tons. Shipment of confectionery products for export was carried out in 30 countries, including emerging markets, such as Iraq, Iran, Libya, France, Sweden. It should be noted that the most active in buying confectionery corporation showed the Middle East, increasing its volumes by 2.5 times compared to the first half of 2015.
The second was the Chinese market (+ 26%) in activity, which is currently undergoing a boom in consumption, including consumption of food and confectionery products. To date, our Chinese partners have received a wide range of confectionery products of the corporation “Biscuit – Chocolate” and increase the volume of deliveries to China.
Sales volume in the European Union for the first half 2016 increased relative to the corresponding period of 2015 by 13% due to the markets of Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia. In the same period, it was made first deliveries in France and Sweden.

Corporation “Biscuit – Chocolate”: investments in 2015

Corporation “Biscuit-Chocolate”, one of the largest Ukrainian manufacturers of confectionery, for 2014-2015, has invested in the development of its production capacity of about 8 million €.
As the president of the corporation Alla Kovalenko, investment policy aims both to maintain consistent quality of products and to introduce new technologies.
“New technologies significantly increase the possibility of the company to introduce new products and expand the product range. Investments in the modernization of production at the confectionery factory “Kharkovchanka” primarily focused on the production of tidal chocolates. Replacing old equipment technological complex «Foly Lekos» (Slovakia) has allowed to increase productivity, reduce labor intensity, improve the quality and to introduce new technologies with the ability to simultaneously produce sweets with two fillings and toppings to make additional ingredients, such as whole nuts, cereals blown.
The next stage of the investment plan of the corporation “Biscuit-Chocolate” was the purchase of a new line of Dutch company “Tanis”, a world leader in iris. On the new line Launched production krokanta crunchy brittle and chocolate-based soft toffee. Workflow provides a complete production cycle from preparation of the masses to the packaging of packaged sweets in packets.

Results of work in 2015

Corporation “Biscuit-Chocolate” in 2015 released the 60 th. Tons of confectionery, which is 107% compared to 2014. Almost the same amount of product (59.9 thous. Tons) was sold on the domestic and foreign markets. The volume of sales for the year amounted to about 1 billion 600 million UAH, growth of the past – 55%.
In general, the results of 2015 the company sent to export 36% of output, whereas a year earlier the figure was 41%. Reducing the share of export shipments in the corporation “Biscuit-Chocolate” was due to the general decrease in the volume of exports by 8%, or 1.8 thous. Tons. The main fall is due to the loss of the market and a reduction in deliveries to the CIS countries, primarily in Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. Not the least role in the negative dynamics of the purchase of confectionery these countries played a devaluation of the local currency against the background of falling world oil prices and problems on the Russian market.
External shipments of products carried out in 30 countries, including emerging markets, such as Iraq, China, Libya, Poland and Turkey. Sales volume in the European Union countries for the second year showed growth: for example, if in 2014 the growth of exports to these countries amounted to 28%, then in 2015 – already 50%. The largest increase in exports of confectionery products was due to Romania, Latvia and Bulgaria.
Sales in Ukraine increased both in volume and in share, which was in 2015 64% of total shipments corporations, compared with 57% in 2014. The overall growth of Ukrainian sales amounted to 18% and was observed in all regions of the country except parts of Luhansk and Donetsk region, located in the zone of the ATO, and the Crimea.
